Roach - Mary 1890

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Wednesday, 3 Sept. 1890

This afternoon while W. J. Davis, the Junction operator was playing with his revolver, he thinking it was not loaded, pointed it at Mary Roach and pulled the trigger. The weapon went off and the ball entered her back just to the left of the spinal column. Dr. Ensminger was summoned and pronounced her recovery very doubtful. The girl is the 16 year old daughter of Jas. Roach and one of the domestics at the Junction house.  Davis is nearly crazy with regret over the accident and can’t be seen. -s
